Game version with mods?

So I play Factorio on steam, and I'm looking to get into mods, I'm just wondering what the most common game version to use is.
Unlike some popular world building games Factorio is designed to be easily modded:)
You can typically use the latest version .12.35 for stable (as of now) or the latest .13 experimental build. Mods for .13 can be found at mods.factorio.com and mods for .12.35 on the forums. Most of the great .12x mods have been updated for .13 also.
I recommend using the current experimental as it is pretty stable and will be moved to the stable branch in the next few weeks.
