Cannot start game on Steam, but demo worked fine

Hello there,
I've played the demo on Steam (without problems) and rightafter bought the game full version (on Steam as well). After instalation, the game would launch but the interface was unresponsive. The game version is 0.13.0 and my computer is Windows 7.
I've tried many many things, including:
- Unistalling everything and installing again;
- Same but without internet;
- Same but deleting files from 'C:/Users/.../AppData/Roaming/Factorio' and 'C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/<userID>/<appID>'
- Same but enabling/disabling Steam cloud service;
In all cases, the program would: A) Start blank white and turn unresponsive; B) Turn unresponsive in the middle of loading; C) Finish loading all the way to main menu and turn unresponsive when I click stuff. At one time I managed to get a conflict message with the cloud. Also, I've noticed that before clicking, the close and minimise buttons in the corner don't 'highlight' as they should when I hover the mouse over them.
