API call to save the game

I see game.save() to save scenario progress, and game.server_save() to get the server to save a multiplayer map, but I can't find a way to cause the normal singleplayer game to save, as if I'd done Save Game from the menu.
I want this feature so that I can save snapshots of my base at certain intervals, with specific names so they don't get overwritten like autosaves do.
