Request for 2 way belt

I dont know if this is possible, but if it can I would like a 2 way belt, I know I can use 2 belts side by side, but what I would love is something like this:

Oil barreling for once, a eternal loop you can say from filling to emptying barrels bringing empty barrels back to original location for example. Or anywhere I have limited space and can use same belt for different cracting stations.

*maybe* you could define some half-width belts that don't collide with each other, and lay them both down in the same tiles?

Trying to create a belt in the same tile as another belt by script always fails. Not sure if altering the collision boxes would change anything.

And I've been wanting this kind of "eitherweyor belt" for various purposes, myself. But it's obviously a very niche concept, that won't work well at all with most current belt-related functions.

I'm honestly more interested in being able to define custom lanes for the items on belts, so I can for instance squish them a bit vertically. Make the horizontal belts look right in the orthogonal projection.

Erm in an endless map you have so much space to build two or more lanes to each other, a two way belt support only marginal use cases.

How about when you've already built hundreds of buildings and other entities, and now you need two directions of belts where you only left room for one?

now inserter (with bonus) take item on 2 raw, so it will not work well.

Sorry for thread necro, but an example I would use for something like this, would be for one side to transport mined ores to the base, while the other direction would be for transporting ammo to the turrets defending the belt. With the current restriction, you'd need to set up 2 entire lines of belts just to accomplish that.

This idea is definately something that the game should consider, or a modder hopefully implement. 2 direction belts definately saves space, and you can cut down on required underground belt workarounds.
