Hi,
as I write mods and look for new ideas, I'm very interested to know which is the repartition of player's time between solo and multiplayer games...
Thanks for your answers.

I really have to test this multi gaming !

But I did not yet understood the goal of multi vs. solo. : all players are concurrents or they work together to the same satellite goal ?

It can be both. Teams(2vs2) and stuff.
You mean people fight against the aliens and against each other ?

By default, all players are in the same force (team / faction / whatever) and share their access & knowledge (tech tree).
If you switch the force, you get your own tech tree and machines (afaik built stuff won't carry over) and you are treated as an enemy entity (eg turret will open fire on you and your machines)
Unless you actively join the biter-force, they'll attack all players (if you spawn biter in your force, then they'll get attacked as well).

And in fight mode, what is the goal ? Kill adverse player/character ? Once he is killed, he cannot revive ? No more run for satelite ? Then all you need is run for military, no ?
Anyway must be a very different gameplay.

There isn't much difference to normal freeplay, except you'll have to fight more aggressively over easy to reach ore patches (it depends on the aggressiveness of the other players though).
It won't mean you'll have to actively fight the other faction, maybe you'll "just trade missing resources".
Edit:
Maybe someone can say, if the alliance-system is working, they worked on some time ago, if so, you can treat another force as allies (you'll just have an own tech-tree). Haven't checked those for a while, especially since you must use the lua-console to switch forces (without mods)

Ho ho, so it could be an idea for a mod to write

But for testings, it'll need some testers, and as I never play multi, it will be hard for me to test alone...
