I want the ability to pipe oil into a section of dirt, aliens to trigger a mine, boom, aliens burn and scream in the oil.

or aliens trigger a sensor, pipes release, ignite the oil, flame throwers incinerate anything that goes past

or just death and burning...

Make oil splits outside the walls, plop Fire Archer Towers on the walls and go medieval when the dark army arrives.
