Possible to make the Steam version not require Steam?

I have a couple of Steam games that launch directly, without requiring Steam. You can double-click game.exe from the Steam downloads directory, and they work, Steam is never launched. It's unfortunate that an indie game like Factorio requires Steam, it makes it impossible for me to play.
I don't have Internet at home, and because my new roommate is also a gamer, offline mode doesn't work well. We can't both be in Steam offline mode. We have to take the computer somewhere to get internet access and change accounts, which is a huge pain. So we use his account in offline (more of a gamer than me), and I'm stuck without access to Factorio.
I should have purchased it from your site instead of Steam, but too late now.
Is there anything that can be done? Could Factorio be changed to run without requiring Steam, like some other games do (indie games usually)?
