[answered] (just curious) stack bonus vs belts (again?)

Just an abstract question.
Is there someone with numbers ready? :)

What is faster in the means of bandwidth: long-handed inserter with two containers (say chests) and full stack bonus, or yellow/red/blue belt of equivalent length (chest + long-handed + chest)?

Just thinking about replacing the main bus with inserters :) Or not the main bus but some 4-lane conveyors with one "chest-belt".

BTW, if some assembler needs four types of the input, and there are all four types in the chest, can an inserter take all four materials in one swing?

Long-handed inserter: 1.15 items/s
Long-handed inserter with max bonus: 5.77 items/s
2x braided long-handed inserter with max bonus: 11.54 items/s
Yellow belt: 13.3 item/s
Red belt: 26.6 items/s
Blue belt: 40 items/s
Triple braided belts: 80 items/s

No, inserters can't take different types at once. In fact, they tend to focus only on one type if you have more than one in a chest.

The most throughput? Box/inserter, or blue belt?

Question asked before merge:

What has the most throughput? Fully lab upgraded box/(fast inserter) chains, with lots of stack bonus, or blue belt?

Your question is not precise enough to get a meaningful answer :)

Posted before merge:

Moving items using a chain of alternating container, fast inserter, container, fast inserter etc...

Throughput as in items moved in some amount of time. Blue belts move about 40 items per second.

With all upgrades to inserters done in the lab.

Same question here (with answer):

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23315

And here: https://wiki.factorio.com/index.php?tit ... stem#Belts

Yellow belt goes 1.875 tiles per second with 7.143 items per tile. It's ~13.4 item*tiles/sec
Fast inserter goes 2.4 turns/sec over 2 tiles with maximum of 5.77 items with full stack bonus. It's ~13.85 item*tiles/sec

[Koub] Indeed, so I merged both topics.

Good thinking on the topic merge :)

I see that fast inserters are exactly twice as fast as red inserters, but they cannot be braided, so they come out the same as the calculations above for braided red.
