Hi,
it would be cool if you could ALT+Tab out of the game without tryin 10x times to do so.

On my Windows 10 (and on my gf and on a friend PC, Windows 7) its hard to tab out....

When I want to alt-tab, I just usually hit once Alt+Tab, and that's it

Its just not goin into background and e.g. its impossible to tab to the desktop, i can only, if lucky, switch to any other program.

I think that's more of a windows thing then a game thing.
Alt+Tab is a windows hotkey for switching to the next open program, it isn't something coded into programs.

Have you tried running the game in a window instead of full screen?
I play the game in windowed mode and it works perfectly, I can easily minimize it and resize it, or maximize it by double clicking the title bar.

Go to Options -> Controls and bind every Tab command to something else.

As said, this is an OS problem.

Just press win+d to go to desktop

If its an OS problem, why all other games are working? And, its working, you just need some more presses.

Windows + D is good, but it makes ALL WINDOWS go to taskbar, which is not good. I just want to alt+Tab.

Since you dont allow it to be a bug i just switch to windowed mode, but thats ugly.

Try [alt] + (2x)[tab]

or you could do [alt] + [shift] + [tab]

Alt + Shift + Tab is just the inversed Alt + Tab.

I think OP knows how to use Alt-Tab <_<.
@OP : what exactly happens when you try to Alt-Tab ? I really haven't been able to reproduce any issue with alt-tabbing on my computer, wether in fullscreen or in windowed mode. Every time I try to, I just immediately switch from Factorio to whatever windows's next in my running windows list.

Yea, i also tried alt + tab [tab].

I can select it, but factior comes up again... thats the problem.

But usually i can tab to chrome, but even for this i need to tab servival times.

Its ike im fighting against factorio...^^

Windows doesn't like it when you try to alt-tab out of a fullscreen program. That's why lots of games have these "fullscreen window" or "borderless window" modes.
Since there's no "fullscreen window" option in factorio, the only way to avoid alt-tab issues is to run the game in windowed mode.

Maybe, but WHY so many games are able to do it?

Because you compare Factorio with other games.

So maybe i should suggest to add a new resolution to 1025x729, just to make it different to other games.

Don'rt be a douche. We've tried to help you. There might be many other things that affect that behaviour on your pc. That is the problem with PC, there can be so many different causes for a simple symptom. Try to search other forums for help on this, as there might be more technical people who can halp you there.

It cant be only "my pc" i already explained taht it atleast happens at 3 different PCs!

Also, other games are working, Alt Tab always worked. There are some game where it doesnt work 100%, but like in factorio it never was.

Since i dont know what devs need to know to look into this bug, i cant delevier it.

MAYBE its because i have 2 monitors.

You know what this behaivior in this forum tells me? Dont post anything, they wont look into it ANYWAY, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. Is that what you want to delivier?


Since its THIS GAME related i should go to another forum and post it there? So they tell me, WTF go to the developer.. LOL.

Are you running direct 3d or OpenGl ?

For me d3d version behaves like fullscreen windowed - alt+tab is instant without problems.
With opengl there is visible resolution switch.

There a lot of possible reasons why alt+tab might fail - any external programs that modify app behavior, gpu drivers, etc.
