Is there a way to edit existing saves?

I was wondering if there was a way to edit existing saves in the map editor? i already tried
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files\Factorio\bin\x64\Factorio.exe --map2scenario MAPNAME
in run but the error /Map version 0.12.29-0 cannot be loaded/ keeps popping up. and the post i got this from is over a year old with all other similar posts being 2+ years old.
the reason why im wondering is because i made a custom map with limited resources to see how big i could grow. but now i want to add more now that ive invested so much time into that save.
if anyone could help that would be great.

I can't offer you any help with that error, except to confirm that the --map2scenario option still works for me on 0.12.29 (though it did create issues with some mods). So, you can disregard the age of the posts, as this method should still be relevant.

Could it be that the Factorio version installed to C:\Program Files\Factorio\bin\x64\Factorio.exe is not up-to-date? That would explain the 0.12.29-0 cannot be loaded error.
This can happen if you also installed/use the steam version and then didn't update the website version.

i believe that 0.12.29-0 is the current version

i now know what you mean and i am reinstalling the website version to see if that works. i think i have like 5 versions of factorio on y computer from the days before steam.
