Particle based smoke for non burner entities

Is there a way to use the particle smoke on a non burner entity? I have an electric assembler entity, but I would like it to use the particle based smoke as a working animations, is there a way to do it or is it hardcoded for the burner entities? I not eager to make 100 frames smoke animations...

You can create explosions with script, these can have the smoke animation

Ok they are hardcoded then I guess. I don't really want to run script for dozens of entities when it comes to visual. Will do a sheet for smoke animation then
