New Research: Simulation (1, 2)

My idea is for a new research tree, which does one thing: eliminate the basic science packs. It should be quite expensive (say 500 1/2/3 science packs for 1 and 1000 1/2/3/4 science packs for 2?)
When researched, it unlocks a recipie to salvage science packs for resources (1 iron plate per basic science pack, 1 inserter for the green packs), and makes it so all further research does not require those science packs. Duration and other science packs requirements are unchanged.
...so much wasted iron.
