Seriously though, I've been on many dozens of game forums over there years and I can honestly say I've never seen so many "Thank you for making this game, it's awesome!" messages (that was my first post here too!). It's easy as hell to make a terrible game and attract all sorts of flaming and negative attention, or no attention at all.. It's MUCH harder to make a game/product that's so good that it draws people to the forum just to say thanks and show support. The Factorio devs have a great concept and are kicking lots of ass with it. Bravo guys!

sorry for the sentiment, but here it is
I can honestly say, that after 1 year and 10 months of working on Factorio, I'm not tired of it at all, I still enjoy working on it every day and I even feel I have more energy and drive than in the start.
I enjoy making any small improvement and I'm always looking forward to play it with the new content we add, I have very strong urge to polish the game in all the small details, and I hope to find the time and resources to really do it, so in the end, there would be some great game that we all could enjoy.

One thing I really like about factorio is that it's something really new. I can't even describe it with examples. Even dwarf fortress can described as 3D dungeon keeper spiritual successor - no such description for factorio.
Minecraftish gathering and placement, diablo style camera, unique factory system that I can only compare to spacechem (a bit far-fetched comparison) and the transportation system (mostly belts) that itself deserves a separate mention.
Does it even have a genre? "Simulator"?
