Hi,I love this game and it works fine on my desktop but when im away and try to play it on my laptop I get the crash that says game requires windows 7 service pack 1? (even though both have the same version of windows) and changing compatibility mode to vista service pack 1 or 2 does not work, I then get this error in the log . . .

I'd like to point out that my internet is terrible and cuts out all the time so getting sp1 is very hard, also i had no idea this game required sp1. It's not like it says it in the spec requirements section of the steam store page. Any help? or work around ? i'd really appreciate it as I love this game and play it all the time on my desktop. I saw the other posts on this topic but nothing I found helps.

Maybe you can try ton run it with XP compatibility mode ?

Factorio requires SP1 on Windows 7 because it doesn't work correctly without it (as you've seen).

I also suspect that it won't work at all on your laptop as the log file is saying you have an integrated Intel HD graphics card which almost certainly doesn't meet the system requirements for Factorio.

We have found workaround for this crash, so requirement for SP1 on Windows 7 will be dropped in 0.12.27

I know it's in no way officially supported, but my Intel HD graphics at the office actually does run the game. I've never tried a big map or anything per se, but if I want to pop into multiplayer just to say hi to people on a public server, it does run.

In fact the biggest requirement for graphics to play Factorio is ... VRAM. Integrated Intel HD Graphics uses part of the RAM as VRAM. As long as there's enough of it, there's a high chance Factorio will run.
On the contrary, some old and/or low end GPUs, which can be more powerful than Integrated ones, may lack the VRAM to run Factorio properly.
