Since map downloading can sometimes take a while (I'm posting this while waiting for someone's map to download), how about letting players on the server already keep chatting while the download takes place?

I rather see if possible a new method of downloading maps happen. It should not be as slow as it is period in the end. I think this might actually be a goal for the devs to fix the root cause of the slowdown but I'm not 100% sure.

Slow maps you say? try transferring a map from UK to Aus... Try the other way, takes even longer. Try sending maps on 56k dialup.

Maps are huge.
