Just verified that It also hangs with the steam overlay disabled.

Can't reproduce. Do you exit the game from the menu? From the game itself? From somewhere else? Anything else that might be related?

I also have this issue on Steam Linux. I don't remember having it pre-Steam. It seems to be easier to trigger if you have Bob's Mods installed; however, I have noticed it occasionally without any mods.

I have verified that it can be triggered by hitting the exit button from the menu. It can also be triggered by trying to toggle mods in the mod menu and then hitting back, as it tries to reload the game. The selection of mods does not persist in this case.

Have you tried to deactivate Steam cloud synchronisation for the game (in Steam library, Factorio > Properties > updates > Steam cloud) ?

Well, I tried with Bob's mods, but exiting the game works just fine for me, as does changing mod settings. I tested with Steam Cloud enabled.

Oxyd, I don't know what is the quality of your Internet connection, but maybe this only happens on slow/bad connections, upon upload to the cloud ?

That is a possibility. Urth, CartesianBear, how long have you waited for the process to finish before killing it?

I've waited hours in the past. However, I just got done playing a session with mods and it exited fine this time, so it isn't reproducible with mods 100% of the time.

I see. This might be related to this bug – I'm assuming you also have the 361.28 version of the NVidia drivers, is that right?

So I updated to NVidia driver 361.28 but still couldn't reproduce the issue – Steam or no Steam, mods or no mods, it exits cleanly for me every single time.

I've managed to replicate this bug, it really is caused by nvidia-drivers-361.28 on Gentoo (and Funtoo as well)
