"failed to create display!". HELP

I recently added factorio to steam. The first time I launched it from steam it worked fine, but after that every time I try to launch factorio the factorio window is just a flashing white window. After a while it will come up with an error message saying "failed to create display!" and it closes. I recently upgraded to windows 10 but I don't think that has anything to do with it. Can anybody help?
