Steam and experimental updates

The experimental updates are currently delivered as "beta versions" - each update in an extra branch.

Wouldn't it be better to just have two branches: "NONE" (stable version) and "Experimental Versions"? "NONE" updates when a new stable version is released, "Experimental Versions" updates when a new experimental build is released (just like the enable experimental versions function in the standalone game does (did?)).
With the current "each version as a branch" you'll always need to update your settings once a new build is there, that's too complicated.

The default branch will be the stable version, there will also be an experimental branch, but the per-version branches will stay.

How do you get that dropdown menu? Mine does nothing when I click on it.

Edit: I'm stupid, you can't have it running or else you can't click the menu.

I had the same bug, I simply closed that dialog window and reopened it. Then it worked as intended.

That's not how you're supposed to use it, the "experimental" beta always gets you the newest version.

If an update breaks your game, you can use the other betas to go back 1, 2 or 3 versions and keep playing until the bug is fixed.

That branch wasn't there when I wrote the post, I already switched to it. :)

Tried closing the dialog - Still having the same issue as jackthesmack.

Did you close the Factorio game?
