Save Game Hangs/Locks-Up Game

When I try to SAVE the game it causes the game to hang/lock-up.
In other words, the "Save" button goes dark and nothing else happens and the game stops responding (resulting in me having to kill it in task manager).
I just upgraded from Windows 7 (x64) to Windows 10 (x64) and I've tried:
Setup_Factorio_Win32_0.11.22 (32-bit)
Setup_Factorio_Win32_0.12.8 (32-bit)
and also:
Setup_Factorio_x64_0.11.22 (64-bit)
Setup_Factorio_x64_0.12.8 (64-bit)
The same problem occurs on all four versions.
!!! NOTE !!! Something I forgot to mention before is that AUTOSAVE works just fine!
The only thing that I can think of that may be causing a problem is that I'm using an NTFS link (junction) for my Users folder (the actual folder is D:\Users but it's NTFS hard-linked to C:\Users [mklink /j C:\Users D:\Users]). This really SHOULDN'T cause an issue, as it would appear to any program as if everything were in its proper place on C: , and I have not had this problem with any other game (between my husband and I, we own over 200 games, both steam and non-steam).
P.S. I did the hard link because our main OS/boot drive is an SSD and I don't want it loaded up with extra User crap that doesn't need to be there.
