Will the new trailer be recorded in 4K @ 60fps?

I am very curious if the developers are going for a 4K (3840x2160) trailer with 60 frames per second or not.
They would benefit from the fact that YouTube videos recorded in 4K look better even when watched in lower resolutions.
Another benefit would be that the trailer would be "future-proof" since 4K will be the standard in a few years and remain it for a few years after that.

wouldn't make much of a difference, 4k doesn't do as much as you think it does. there is a video on vessel by linus tech tips on the subject but you need a subscription to see it currently I believe.

I haven't seen the video you are talking about but I would suggest you watch a video of Jacob and Katie Schwarz whichw as uploaded in 4K and watch it in 720p - it looks like no other video which was just uploaded in 720p or 1080p.
There was once an article or video where that phenomenon is explained, I will go and search for it and report back if I find it.

EDIT: didn't find the video I watched in the past, but a similar informative one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIf9h2Gkm_U

I have no idea how they differ in terms of perceived quality, but according to steams hardware survey (which probably very closely resembles Factorio's audience), only about 0.13% of users have 4k or higher resolution. In fact, only 3.35% have resolutions higher than 1920x1080 (aka 1080p).

I really wouldn't mind if they make the new trailer in 4k, but I think if it is a considerably more complicated process, then it is probably not worth the effort. So if it is only a push of a button to select 4k or 1080p - go for the 4k. But if making a 4k video would mean waiting considerably longer for 0.13 or consecutive version, than I think they should go with 1080p.

Edit: Steam's hw survey link: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Of course - if it would cause problems or would hard for them to do - they should just make it in 1080p @ 60fps - no problem with that.

But if it is just one click more and 30 more minutes of rendertime they should go for 4K @ 60fps

Difference is, one is live real world footage filmed on a $10k 4k camera and the other is gameplay footage, wouldn't make much of a difference, all you would need to do if they had a 1080p screen I imagine would just be to record on a 4k monitor or just render the footage in 4k. But yet again, wouldn't make much of a difference because of the way youtube encoder works in general.

Gameplay footage normally is uncompressed due to the way graphics cards render images, it would not be worse than the real life footage of a 10k $ camera.

They don't need a special screen (even if the software they use can't just "render" the footage in 4K) - you can just use "downsampling" which I use to produce 4K gameplay videos (like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD1WPDC73Wo) and 4K screenshots.

your shameless plug doesn't look any different to me in 4k on my 1440p 144hz 1ms monitor.

BTW: I've a macbook and when I watch the trailer with that get this "pulsing": every second the video speeds up and slows down a bit. I looks like when you watch those old videos of blood flowing through your veins. Can be seen at the best when watching the trains. Very irritating. :)

I don't get the 4k thing anyway... my internet-connection can barely handle 1080p-streams
