The title. According to wiki (by Slpwnd) it should give, well, position at which items are dropped.
For mining drill this field is working correctly.

Thx for the report, the method was extended, so it works also for an inserter, as the doc states.

Fixed for 0.12.4

[0.12.3] [kovarex] drop_position for inserters is nil
