TL;DR

Allow space platforms to be organized into custom, collapsible categories.

What?

Add categories or folders to the space-platform list, such as:

Science
Cargo
Promethium
Inactive

Players could assign and manually sort platforms within each category. Categories could be collapsed to hide their platforms and keep the list compact.

Why?

Large saves can contain many platforms, making the current single list difficult to navigate. Collapsible categories would reduce clutter and make specific platforms faster to find.

I second this request. Thought of it independently now that I am building platforms en masse (due to free trading amongst them), and was glad to see someone else already on it.

Manual sorting is already possible by Renaming the Platform. If you have enough Platforms to exceed the Surface selection box size then perhaps it is time to evaluate if they are all necessary or you just like launching rockets.

Yes, manually sorting is possible via naming, but as you touched on, the issue is having so many platforms that it goes well beyond the selection box.

I'm sure we all play Factorio differently, so not sure how to define "necessary", but in this case it is actually to minimize sending rockets. I'm on the experimental branch, and since trading between platforms is possible and free, I have set up resupply networks in space. This reduces the number of rockets needed for certain supply runs, and is also pretty fun to set up.

It gets really tedious trying to search through multiple platforms. If each planet has like 5 dedicated platforms it already becomes very messy.

For those who suggested using less platforms, no, I wanna use as much as I want to.
