Set Recipe in Crusher not working - Steam Ex Version

First Bug Report ever, i was trying to setup a little Space science Op with modular Crushers by need, therefore i wanted to use the "set Recipe" Circuit Condition, but it doesnt work anymore. I tried it with a combinator, to set the recipe as the recipe (mettalic asteroid crushing in this case) and it worked fine, but i dont have the space for the combinators right now/ wanted to see if i mised something. am on the latest Experimental Version as of 24.07.2026 on steam release.

Assemblers/crushers 'set recipe' when given item signal will select recipe that produces that item. Does the recipe you want selected produce more metallic asteroid chunks than it consumes?

Thx for the fast reply. I've checked with a seperate crusher, configured with the recipe to crush metallic Asteroids (MA), and it consumes 1 Asteroid Chunk, while producing 20 Iron ore and 1 metallic chunk, tho i saw that the chunk is chance based by 30%.
From my understanding, it does not consume more chunks than it produces, as the production of a chunk is chance based and not guaranteed.

I also am not expecting, the crusher to take the output, e.g. a MA Chunk or other chunk, and set the recipe based on that chunk, the possible output chunk + products, will be put back on the sushi belt and the signal to set the recipe, shall be coming from the all belt reader.

Can it be possible, that the crusher doesnt set the recipe, because the outcome of an asteroid chunk is not guaranteed? I've set up a constant combinator with iron as its output and now it works.

Please let me know if this is intended or if i am onto something. If my reasoning so far is sound, the crusher will not set the recipe because the output, a Chunk, is not guaranteed, therefore it can't be used as a signal to set the recipe.

Thanks, i will try some other method!
I guess this thread needs to be closed or moved from bug reports, as it is a user error, can i do this or does a mod need to do this?
