[2.1.9] Asteroid Damage to Non-moving Platforms

Regarding the changelog entry from 2.1.7:
When a space platform is stopped in orbit (i.e. when building a new platform above Vulcanus), it is taking significantly more damage in 2.1 compared to previous 2.0 releases. Is this an intended change in 2.1?
There is an existing post in the balancing forum describing this issue, but I thought it might be helpful to raise the question here in the bug reports section to understand if this is an intended change.

Does the reworked asteroid damage model only affect how much damage asteroids take, or does it also affect how much damage platforms take?Reworked asteroid damage - asteroids take damage when they collide with entities and tiles, and they no longer slow down.
