[2.0.76] Texture errors when launching through Steam

When I launch the game through Steam, I get texture errors:
It's somewhat inconsistent with lots of flickering, but I can reproduce the menu issues 100% of the time by clicking on the "new game" button. Other menus, like the options menus, sometimes have problems and sometimes don't. When they are having problems, it seems to be affected by the position of the text on the screen - for example, at one point I was moving a menu box up and down with the bottom below the edge of the screen, and it was showing just a few lines of text at the very bottom of the screen.
The issue pictured in the third screenshot happens intermittently, maybe triggered by a specific background animation or something. That part seems to fix itself when the background switches to a new animation.
I only get this problem launching through Steam. Launching from the standalone application seems to work fine.
I've tried:
- Switching to the experimental branch
- Verifying the game files
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the game
- Restarting my computer
- Disabling the steam overlay
- Manually setting the three main graphics "intensity" settings to minimum (and restarting the game)
- Using --gfx-safe-mode
- Using no launch options
- Explicitly forcing using steam linux runtime to make sure it's not using proton
Nothing has helped except launching from the standalone version. I would think this was a problem with my graphics card if it didn't work fine without Steam.
I'm using Linux Mint 22.3.
Let me know if there's anything at all I can do to gather more information on my end.
