[2.0.7.6] Enemies attacking rocks instead of my base

I just watched 2 spitters attacking a slew of rocks instead of advancing towards my base. There was plenty of room for them to go around as they were single rocks, not a cluster or a cliff. Screenshot included. They kept attacking those two rocks (plus about a dozen others on their way) for no reason that I could see.
