decorations disappearing periodically

At random points, most recently while a small biter nest was on the screen, all stones, grass, craters, and biter creep will just disappear.
everything but the biter creep can be restored by using "game.player.surface.regenerate_decorative()" in console. respawning biter nests does not cause creep to be restored. highly likely that the mod "decay configuration" is related to the original issue but removing it (or alien biomes) wont bring back the biter creep.
the last location i was at when the bug reappeared is marked with
. the save given is from a a few minutes before the most recent occurrence.
