[2.0.72] Crash (FollowPathBehavior::executeInternal)
Posted: Fri Dec 26, 2025 5:16 pm
Game version: 2.0.72 (Steam, Windows 11 26200)
Mods: Space Age, Quality, Elevated Rails, CleanedConcrete
(TimeControlFork was previously installed, but the crash continues after removing it)
Reproducibility: 100% — the crash happens every time shortly after loading the save.
Summary
After loading the attached save file, the game runs for 1–3 minutes and then crashes with an Access Violation (c0000005).
The crash always occurs inside AI pathfinding code. The relevant part of the log shows:
FollowPathBehavior::executeInternal
GroupBehavior::executeInternal
Unit::update
Surface::update
Map::updateEntities
The error in the log:
Exception Code: c0000005
Access Violation: Read at address FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
This happens consistently even after:
removing TimeControlFork
verifying game files through Steam
updating GPU drivers
restarting the game and PC
No specific action triggers the crash — it happens even if I simply stand still after loading the save.
Steps to reproduce:
Load the attached save file
Wait 1–3 minutes
The game crashes to desktop
Crash is fully reproducible.
Additional notes
Based on the stacktrace and behavior, it seems likely that the crash may be related to a corrupted unit, robot, or biter pathfinding state somewhere on the map.
However, the crash occurs even after removing all gameplay-affecting mods except Space Age and core Factorio mods.
