Unplanned light magic

So... I created a basic station balancer, and I wanted something that made visualizing which station was to be loaded next... visual.

The balancing itself is quite simple: For each of the stations, scan the majority of the belts for contents, sum them up with the contents inside their respective chests. Use the advanced combinator to sort their respective totals, and get the station with the least amount of items (in this case, iron plates). If the station itself matches the one the combinator got, enable it; else, disable it.

Next, I wanted to see if I could make it visual, so I created a few green arrows. A white "background" didn't stand out, so I created a with a red one.

Ok, all's fine. Move on.

...And then, night came.

Holy moses, I did not expect that shade.

Any ideas of how to replicate that in daylight?
