Crash when pentapod egg is about to display on screen.
Or possibly when new terrane is about to load from fog of war.

More on this:
Placing down a radar and viewing the egg from map view does not trigger crash.
It seems to be the players proximity to the egg that causes the crash.

Thanks for the report. One map generation variable is corrupted in your save file (bit flip from 34 to 2082). I would advise you to run RAM/CPU stability tests. To fix your save file, go to Load game dialog, click on the file and hold Ctrl while pressing the green Load game button, then save it again.

Thank you so much! That resolved the issue!

I to add more context: I may have saved the game on my laptop, synced to the Steam cloud, then loaded on my desktop. I wonder if that hardware difference caused this issue.

Hardware difference should make no difference. The only known way for this kind of thing to happen is hardware failure.
