I recently wanted to get some merch for factorio, but was little bit let down by the offering in the stop.

I think that since the Space Age was a success, it would be nice to have the Space Age rocket t-shirt (Original rocket t-shirt looks very nice), maybe quite minimal quality icon t-shirt or some of the gleba on t-shirt? Mugs, stickers, ?plushies?.

I realize that the team is full of people who want to solve technical issue and work on different thing, but I would rather support the original creators then to search on eg. etsy.

Handling merchandise is often not worth the hassle for "small" businesses, because of the myriad complexities of Payment & Shipping for physical items. In fact, it seems that the official Merch store is currently unavailable for USA-based customers due to "unresolved customs duties" - D'oh! I suppose this makes the T-shirts into a limited-edition item; which I will treasure forever.

If you really want some thing physical I would recommend exploring the various freely-available fan made 3D printable models. I personally have a belt keychain which a friend was kind enough to produce for me. There are commercial services (online or locally, search around!) which can turn a model file into an item, without having to buy your own plastic-printer.

If it is about "supporting the developers", you can buy another copy of the game and give it away to a friend.
