[2.0.69] Crash irregular after recent update on 2015 mac (MetalFrameCounters.cpp)

I'm on a 2015 iMac, always ran fine but now getting irregular crashes, sometimes fine for hours then crash, sometimes at the loading screen. I tried to forcegl but still get crashes. No mods, no issues before I updated last.
3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
24 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M390 2 GB
Any help much appreciated do I just need new hardware?
