[2.0.69] splitter not resetting output side with "set filters"

when setting up a splitter to work through a set of signals I discovered that th eoutput side doesn't reset back to the middle even if the signals tell it to do so.
when first placing down a splitter with both set output side and set filter without it ever having any signals sent to it, the splitter will stay in its "default" operating state. That makes sense since there are no filter signals nor is there one for the output side. The set output toggle is in the middle as it should be and the "no filter" signal shows in the filter field:

I then send it a signal for the filter to set and the side I want it to be on which both works as expected:

After then removing both of the signals from the splitter, the filter returns back to "no filter" icon and even tho the output priority isgnal is on 0 indicating it should reset back to the middle (like it does when you don't enable "set filter") it doesn't do that and it stays on the side where it was last pointed to by the O signal:

Given that there is no rationale provided explaining why the current behavior is a bug and the bug report is only describing current behavior, since the current behavior is working exactly as i intended it to work (no clearing output side when set filter is used since that would make splitter no longer have a filtered output), i am going to move this to Not a bug.

Oh it's intended to not be able to set it back to middle with the signals when "set filter" is enabled even tho no filter is being sent to the splitter? I thought it was a bug since that is a possible state of the splitter before any signals are sent to it (first image in my post) and you can set it back to middle when set filter is not enabled.

I am trying to achieve the removal of a filter in the splitter and basically set it back to default configuration when dealing with bacteria since I want it to act like a normal splitter most of the time and only control it when it's backlogged with ore.

should I post this into ideas and suggestions or do you have no plan to change/add this?

It would be great if you post your idea for where smart splitters can be useful to this thread: viewtopic.php?t=130999

I think if we can complie a lot of applications and show what kind of clunky workaround is needed with the current system, we can figure out if there is a reasonable change to suggest that has minimal side effects.
