[Mouse-over] on [not-always-visible pin] should display [direction+distance arrow] on the edge of the screen ==>
(the same arrow which is always visible on the edge of the screen when the pin is always-visible)
why: trying to minimize visual clutter, the game is too beautiful to have jarring moving arrows constantly around the edge of the screen. In many situations, long-term pin arrows are very useful at the moment you're aiming to travel towards them, but wouldn't need to be visible the other 99% of the time. A simple "make visible arrow" on mouse-over would solve that.
