[2.0.55] Game fails to start

So, i've had this issue for a while now.
I am on a Lenovo Legion 7 ITHg6, I got an intel i7-11800H, 32 gigs of ram and an rtx 3070, i am running windows 11 (24H2 at the moment of posting)
From what i remember it started when i tried to launch it, everything was okay, i got through the loading screen, then it crashed, i tried to start it again and now it doesn't launch at all.
I press "play" in steam, it says "launching" and then it just dies. I tried basically everything i could come up with - verifying game files, disabling the antivirus, getting the newest drivers, rolling back drives to older versions, rolling back windows versions, reinstalling windows, also i tried downloading the game from the factorio website with the same results.
The logs look like this:
Code: Select all
0.000 2025-06-09 23:27:52; Factorio 2.0.55 (build 83138, win64, steam, space-age)

0.429 [0]: \\.\DISPLAY1 - Intel(R) UHD Graphics {0x01, [2560,-514], 2560x1600, 32bit, 165Hz}
Looking at them i tried disabling my gpu, leaving only the intel's graphics but the results are all the same.
Also looked at the event viewer and found nothing related to factorio which made it only more confusing.
I am pretty close to just completely giving up because i have no clue on what else i could do...

You can see if it's a Steam problem or not by just installing the regular version of Factorio straight from the website, and bypass the Steam stuff.

That's a remarkably short log. Do you see the same contents in the current and previous log files after encountering the problem twice?

About the log: for me, my log continues with information about directx:
Code: Select all
0.479 [0]: \\.\DISPLAY1 - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 {0x05, [0,0], 5120x1440, 32bit, 120Hz}
0.524 [Direct3D11] Display: 0, Output: 0, DisplayAdapter: 0, RenderingAdapter: -1; d3dcompiler_47.dll
0.716 Initialised Direct3D[0]: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070; id: 10de-2786; driver: nvldumdx.dll 32.0.15.7283
If it crashes before logging that, it might be an issue with the directx subsystem on your PC. As far as I know, directx is also about audio, so make sure your audio driver is up to date (best would be just uninstall any audio driver and let Windows autodetect your audio hardware).

I already tried that and ended up with the same result.

Yes, i tried launching it many times and each time it's the same short log.

Hm... Okay, i'll take a look at that and report here once i've updated the drivers/uninstalled them

So, i tried both disabling and fully uninstalling my audio devices via the device manager, but it did nothing, also tried updating my audio drivers to the newest available ones with the same result. Restarted my pc and got this log:

If I had to guess, I'd say something on your computer is killing the process. I've never seen Factorio exit with nothing in the log to even indicate it's exiting, let alone why.

I've had the same theory but i couldn't see anything in the event viewer, so, where could i look for come clues as to what might be doing it?

Investigate DirectX further: uninstall/reinstall Nvidia driver fully, replace it with newest version.
Also verify GPU functionality with some gaming or benchmark. Learn which GPU is working and when. As you have dual GPU laptop, to my understanding.

Sure, i will update to the newest driver. Though i did verify my rtx3070 and i'm pretty sure it's working fine, i did play plenty of other games with the other gpu fully disabled and my rtx did just fine. Guess i'll try the driver update
