I would propose that bots follow a more predictable logic when choosing storage chests.
Otherwise, in large bases, bots tend to operate inefficiently. Filtering doesn’t help much in these cases, as bots often have to travel across the entire map to drop off a single item.
Passive provider chests seem to handle this well, which is great.

probably the worst behavior of vanilla robot, look cool on paper but that make bot very inefficient. Thus, that one of the thing that explain why I move from "area of roboport" at mid game to "Army of spidertron" that can move and build dynamically everywhere. Smaller logistic network work much better and that probably also a game design choice to make bot less good the bigger your factory is. Bot LOVE compact build.

Tips: if you want you can temporary filter your far storage chest with an useless item like power switch... and so your bot will ignore theses storage chest.
