[2.0.42] Game updates break my save games

Every time the game gets a revision, even tiny ones like going from 2.0.41 -> 2.0.42, is breaking my save files.
Trying to load a save that doesn't have an exact matching game version crashes the client during the "consistency check".

Most likely explanation is that your save file has corrupted data in it that was saved after a memory error occurred while you were playing at sone point in the past.
Run Memtest on your computer to see what the problem is. Once you fix it (say, by pulling out a bad RAM stick), there are ways that might be able to recover the save file. If you have any backups from before the corruption happened, that is your best bet.
If memtest comes back fine, post the save file in a bug report in case it was a game error.
