[2.0.28] Non-deterministic behavior in single player?

I'm posting this here as I'm not sure if this is considered a bug or not. I know non-deterministic behavior in multiplayer can cause desyncs though, which are an issue, so I figured it is worth mentioning even though I'm playing single player.
Anyway, the situation is that I've got a platform flying to the shattered planet. I'm not doing anything in Factorio as it flies there, except looking at various production/kill graphs to monitor its progress. On rare occasions though, something on the platform will die, presumably due to an asteroid impact. However, if I reload a save from just a few minutes earlier in the flight, and watch it cover the same distance as before, usually nothing will happen. I'm not doing any character movement or configuration or changes to anything, just watching graphs, and I'm getting a different result.
Anyone else noticed this, or have similar problems occurring?
