I've been playing space age for quite a few weeks and now that I'm on Gleba and am unlocking the various tech there I've realized I don't have any way to get biter eggs due to lack of any spawns on Nauvis.
I found a similar post here, but not sure if it is the same issue viewtopic.php?f=18&t=120250&p=634737&hi ... ul#p634737

At this point not sure if I just have been super unlucky finding any biters, found a bug, or just plain doing something wrong.
I'm pretty confident this map isn't an upgrade from 1.x -> 2.x, but at this point I'm doubting everything I think so looking for help figuring this out.

Here is where I've explored on the map. Feel like at some point should have run across some biter spawns already?

Hi there,

what did you modify? The settings in the upper left side say default "modified"... ? And it looks very strange, that the bar for your enemy-bases (frequency and size) are black/grey....

I do not know, if it is possible to change the enemy generation after starting the game...

I agree that looks strange. I don't remember what all I changed in the beginning when I first started.
I feel like I remember changing settings to reduce bitters. Not sure if it was possible at some point in the past to be able to slide that bar over to 0?
The FAQ says they made it so you can't completely disable bitters in space age though?

Hmm, i started a new game just now and there is no way to slide the bar to 0 so I slid it as far over to the left as I could and here are the settings it generated for comparison.

I tested your mapstring and for me appeared the Enemy bases settings greyed out as well. I manually reverted all the changes, but they stayed disabled. Resetting the config activated them.
I remember there was a setting "No enemy bases" in the past. Was it for 1.1? I don't remember. May be the map string includes this setting but the settings GUI doesn't expose it any more, and this is some hidden obsolete setting the game engine still uses for not creating any enemy bases.
My suggestion: create a bug report. Include the mapstring, your current save and a link to this thread.

However, if you go to the map editor and choose the "Edit map gen settings" in the surface tab of the map editor GUI, an option to activate enemy bases is shown. They are deactivated for your mapstring! If I use your map gen string to create a new game, no bases are created. If I do /editor, edit the map gen settings and activate enemy bases in that menu, enemy bases will immediately show up in newly generated chunks.
You can do this in your current save, however achievements will be disabled. If you create a bug report and a dev picks it up, it might be possible he is able to fix your save without disabling achievements.

I'm really not terribly worried about achievements so might just do that edit like you said for now.
Really just want to get through the game once and then start over again from scratch to have fun again!

I really hope, that they solve this because otherwise I will be stuck on this state forever...
Or is it possible to send the save file to the mods, so that they can fix it without disabling achievements?
