It seems to me (but I might be wrong) that as time passes, there are more and more people who have display problems due to insufficient hardware. I have tried to find official information abour the hardware requirements to run Factorio, and only found this information, only available at the moment you're buying the game :

I feel this is at least pretty incomplete, and probably outdated (when there are discussions about requirements in the forum, the 2 GB VRAM required pops out quite quickly).
I think there should be a "hardware requirements" section on the Factorio website with more up-to-date information, like hereunder :
Here are the current requirements at this stage of game development (can vary as more features are added and game is optimized) :
- Minimum Hardware to play in 1366x768 with low graphical settings (CPU, GPU, VRAM)
- Minimum hardware to play in 1920x1080 with low graphical settings (CPU, GPU, VRAM)
- Minimum hardware to play in 1920x1080 with high graphical settings (CPU, GPU, VRAM)
- Minimum hardware to play in 2560x1440 with high graphical settings (CPU, GPU, VRAM)
Also the required disk space to install and run the game should be mentioned.
And the icing on the cake would be some kind of "detect optimal settings with my hardware" option in the game. It would give them a clue on what graph options they should set to get a nice experience of Factorio. It would be a lot sexier than "Unable to create display" error anyway

.
I know we're still in alpha, and 0.12 is arriving with optimizations, but I'm sure it would help a lot people who buy the game not to feel like "Meh another alpha full of bugs" (what Factorio is not, as I have experienced in a few hundred hours of gameplay).
