[2.0.21] Lag Spikes (Too many belts?)

Situation: 119hrs Unmodded, first SA play through. Large 1-2 second lag spikes every 10-15 seconds making it impossible to play.
Is this related to too many belts? I've had plenty of much larger, modded bases with no issues.
Specs: Laptop - i7-10750H processor; RTX 2070 GPU; 16 Gb RAM
Things I've tried: Closing all other programs. Toggling on/off vSync and restarting. Starting new game (doesn't lag).

Edit: So I may have figured it out. I had a wire connected to my ammo belt going around my base reading the contents so I could quickly see if I was decreasing in ammo availability. ~19,000 rounds. Disconnected it and no issues immediately. Don't understand why that causes an issue but a million other processes don't?
