[2.0.20] Not enough empty roboport robot slots available alert shows even when there is plenty of space.

I was using construction robots to add an additional lane to the main bus, and one of the robots got stuck and wouldn't reenter the roboport. The alert tab appeared saying "Not enough empty roboport robot slots available" even though there was a completely empty roboport right next to the robot.

Hovering over the roboport showed 2180/2180 available construction robots even though that robot was not in the roboport. Breaking and replacing the roboport did not fix the alert, and I eventually picked up the robot to clear the alert.

Speculation on what may have caused the issue: I had 51 construction robots in my inventory but only 2 personal roboport mk2, somehow the game may have deployed 51 robots instead of 50, and that last robot got stranded outside my inventory. I don't know what would've caused this to happen, or why the robot didn't join the main robot network.

Thanks for reporting this issue. Do you have a save file which still has the alert?

Might have been fixed by 122158.

This alert wasn't touched by the fix.

I have a save with some mods that just ran into this issue. Factorio 2.0.72.

I managed to figure out the problem. I don't think it is a bug bug (in my case at least) but it was certainly confusing until I figured it out by coincident. I divided my logistic network into two, accidentally. A main network that had *everything* in it and then a 2nd one that truly did not have space for the bots as it was just a single repair turret (mod) with 2 lonely construction bots in it. For some reason when i removed the repair turret a couple constructions bots decided they belonged to the mini network that contained only a single repair turret which has 0 slots for bots rather than the main network they were located in at the accidental time of the split.

20.zip is the save with the "bug". 21.zip is the save where I fixed it and have a "quick tag thing" on the right to show the "fix" added back a removed repair turret that split the network into 2.

The only fix I can think of is having the bots that are part of the "no roboports available" error immediately travel to be within the bounds of logisitc network they believe themselves to be a part of. Instead of confusingly hovering around in the bounds of the logistic network they are not a part of until they need to recharge. When they need to recharge then they head to the right network but if you have modded bots with inf power or hours of charge then that could be a very long time.
