Disable pausing the game when looking at the research window in single player or add an option to turn it off. In multiplayer, it doesn't pause the game when looking at research. I want the same in single player. The factory should keep running while browsing the research items.

Great idea. Good if you're browsing what to research next and want to keep the current research going.

When in Main menu hold Ctrl+Alt when clicking "Settings", that will show you an extra option "The rest". Go there, find "technology-gui-pauses-game" checkbox and disable it. (this option was smuggled somewhere around version 2.0.9)

Thank you. I think this should be a normal option though. I suggest it gets moved to a normal option. Not sure why this is hidden but a lot of other options that are arguably more technical are shown.

Settings are already quite dense with options, this one was not promoted to a normal option because we had no discussion if we want this option widely available and we have no locale for it yet. I made this hidden switch primarily for myself but i think some speedrunners may be also aware of it.

Moreover, it's inconsistent with your own rationale for why you can't interact whilst pause:

Your post seems to be missing explanation of how are those related to this suggestion and where is the inconsistency. I do not know what you want to achieve with the second part other than annoying me as it puts me in a defensive position when you did not provide any arguments, just a link and word "inconsistent".

So sorry! I just meant about pausing, that I find it strange that factorio pauses for you to choose what technology you want, but doesn't pause for you anywhere else.
It's a minor inconstancy that doesn't really bother me, except when I gave lots of bitter ls attacking and want to plan out a defence, but I just see that as part of the challenge.
