I always check all the tooltips and briefings but I didn't find anything about where to get eggs. So I have fallen back to the second best option: check item recipes, which you can see on the pic below. From it I decided that in order to obtain an egg to need to shoot down a stomper and get it from its shell.
So I had to craft tons and tons of ammo to kill a lot of them and I only got 1 egg from like 10 stompers or smth. I thought it was weird and went to the google which lead me to the FFF-424:

Destroying an egg raft will yield some of the pentapod eggs it contained. Pentapod eggs are a key ingredient needed to make the Biochamber - an important bio processing machine on Gleba. Make sure to use the eggs quickly though. Like many biological items on Gleba they're on a timer, however, they don't "spoil" in the normal way. Wait too long and you may find yourself face to face with a hungry hatchling pentapod...

Which I did and got like 10 eggs in no time, with minimal ammo spending.

I know that the "egg raft" is just next to the pentapod recipes, but I swear I looked at it a dozen of times and missed it.

So I think it is worth it do add the pentapod egg farming section to "tips and tricks", next to the lava and lighting mechanics.

You never killed any rafts before that? One of the first things I did was clear some nearby pentapods and pick up a dozen eggs from the ground.

They're also called EGG rafts.

I think this is just one of those things that YOU missed, not a lack of clarity. Nothing like that for me...I didn't spend weeks dropping carbon to Vulcanus from space because I never noticed there's an easy recipe, no sir...
