Pressing F9 to reset the view was changed

Pressing F9 is the default key to reset the zoom level, and Shift+F9 (or Ctrl+F9, I forgot which) jumps to a 2x view. In the past, the transition on this zoom was quickly gradual, like keyframing. But now it's instant. I preferred it when it had the motion zooming effect. Was this removed for performance reasons? I honestly don't know if the change was intentional or not. If the "reset zoom" being instant wasn't intentional, then this would be a bug that needs fixing. But if it was an intentional change, I would at least like for the option to make it smooth again be added.
