Here seen in German, but the colors should be independent of locale

To add onto that, it's very strange that copper wire doesn't look anything like copper. I can understand if it's intentionally not copper-colored so colorblind people can more easily tell it apart from red and green wires, but there should at least be some middle ground where it's somewhat coppery and not just a hollow outline.

I don't care about it looking like copper. This might as well be renamed into "electric cabling" because there is no more context for the material it is made of, it is no longer an item, and indeed should not be confused with "copper wire" which you need for green circuits. I only care about the visual contrast in the tips&tricks, which currently, is really really bad.

I just noticed another related thing. After clicking any of the wire shortcuts, you still get an icon of the old items in your hand … (here red wire) Not sure if this is intended … but considering the new icons were meant to be more distinct, this feels like an oversight.

Not sure if this is intended … but considering the new icons were meant to be more distinct, this feels like an oversight.

Hexed it.
New icons are worse and have less contrast on cursor. Even colored cables.

To be fair, the context is now the color of the connection you see in the world view between machines/poles/combinators/power-switches. That is copper/brass colored - as it always has been - and I see no reason it shouldn't match, irrespective of the item/button's history.

On the topic of color, the "new" icon colors for Red and Green wire - specifically the green - is quite dark and dare I say "dull". Even the actual wire-connections in the world-view are an expressive, bright red or vibrant (cyan-)green, and it would be nice to see this folded in with the changes.

Perhaps using the same palette as the original wire-connection icon colors as historical homage?

FYI: the wire has been updated in 2.0.27.

Your right, the colour doesn't match the actual wires, but the circuit wires do:

Should be golden yellow, probably
