Super minor thing... If I paste a blue print, any long-inserters will appear as blue inserter until placed.
if I mouse over the ghost it does show the correct length of the long inserter.
Purely cosmetic.

I am on the latest experimental (2.0.17)

I have a save file of this if needed. But just copy and paste (dont need to do a blueprint) to replicate

Can you please provide a save file because I'm not understanding what you're talking about.

I believe they are talking about the blue tinge all ghosts have.
I guess they expected the long inserter to show its stretched-out arm, which happens after it's placed down and powered?

Yes, that is correct and I am going to close this (if that can be done). The inserter shows the collapsed view and with the blue tinge does look almost like the blue inserter. but the ghost for the reach of the red inserter is correct. Sorry!
