Biter eggs spoiling in space platform spawning biters. [2.0.13]

Biter eggs spoiled while waiting for other resources, to be used in making Promethium science packs in Cryogenic plants. When the eggs spoiled, big biters spawned from them, although at low health, which they regenerated from to full health. Don't start attacking structures unless provoked (haven't tested player being in the Space platform hub if that would aggro them) by trying to kill them with turrets.

What I expected to happen is for the biters to not be able to spawn or to be instantly killed by the vacuum of space, if/when biter eggs spoil in space - seemingly that not being the case this time around.

Noticed this happen first on a server that me and couple friends are playing on, after wards saving the game file and running it in single player same thing happened - albeit I did use editor mode to speed up game-time so I didn't have to wait too much for the spoiling to happen.

Is this intented behaviour or bug?

This is intended behavior.

Can you tell me what allows the biters to survive in space? Do they have magnetic legs?

Sure. We did not code them to care what surface they're on and so the C++ logic that controls biters doesn't care that they're on what players call a "Space Platform". As far as the programming is concerned biters can exist anywhere and have no issues.

I understand that the logic is written this way. But I don't understand what is the reason for NOT adding behavior.
It looks funny. A creature that is not predisposed to space can walk on a platform. But the player literally in a spacesuit cannot.
It would have been much more logical if it had flown away like a discarded asteroid.

It's written this way because this is how we want it to work.

it's not about realist but they want from a gameplay perceptive that you must handle bitter egg spoil in the space platform. It's not about logic but gameplay, and for a video game, gameplay is more important than realism. I mean, it doesn't bother you that a full grow aggressive bitter come from an egg instantly ?

Thus I would like bitter to take some damage over time, specially on gleba, since the atmosphere is supposed to be mainly Co2.

The biters disappears after about ~10 minutes. If the platform has no turrets, they will stand afk. "gameplay perceptive that you must handle bitter egg spoil in the space platform". Sure.

Agreed. "Thus I would like bitter to take some damage over time, especially on gleba, since the atmosphere is supposed to be mainly Co2."

Developers added unique effects to the planets. Gravity, magnetic field. That the machines can't work.

But the bug can live without problems.

Hahaha awesome. Not sure if intended but the Xenomorph Wylan/Yutani concept here warmed my cold heart.
