[kovarex] [2.0.12] Rocket automatically launched when not expected

This might be a bug, or maybe not and I'm missing something.

I have a rocket that I'm manually filling the inventory. I have the 'automatically filling requests from platforms' off':

I would expect that if I add materials to the rocket, it would not automatically launch. If I now add 50 space-platform foundation, it launches automatically to one of my space platforms:

And yes there is a request on this space platform for space-platform foundations, however, I did not specifically select it to go to this one. I wanted to send it to my other platform. How do I send it to my other platform?



1. Tried sending space-platforms foundation to one of my other space platforms.
2. When I added the platforms to a rocket, it auto-launched because another space platform had it requested, though I wanted to send it to another one.
3. I would expect the deliver cargo buttons to always become available, and then ask for the platform. (because I have the logistic requests off on the rocket silo). If I insert items in a silo that are not requested by *any of* the space-platforms, then I do get the 'deliver cargo' button and I can select the platform. (To summarize: I would expect the ‘automatic requesting’ in the silo to do exactly that, not automatically fulfil requests)
4. Yes, repeatable.

Is this by design? or a bug? is it too eager to fulfil requests?

I have the same issue, it became automatic after I inserted the next batch of foundation while the rocket was still launching but the rocket inventory was already clear. It kept auto-launching to my orbital platform whenever another batch of platform got inserted and did not allow selecting the destination.
Tried removing the rocket silo and replacing it, didnt help.
Tried filling it only half while the rocket was preparing and it did not launch automatically, now the button to select destination is available again.

If you uncheck "auto request missing construction materials", it will not auto-launch and you'll be able to pick a destination. Personally, I've appreciated the auto-launching.

I know unchecking that works, but that interrupts my other launches. To me it is strange that there is no way of sending to another platform without disabling requests. I would expect the ‘automatic requesting’ in the silo to do exactly that, not automatically fulfil request :roll:

I do agree that this happened to me a few times unexpectedly - Luckily I have enough production now that I can just wait for a new one but in the early phases it was aweful to have to rocket fly away to some platform that requires 3 missing foundations when I actually wanted to send it to a new platform I was building.

I see this is in 'assigned' - just want to say I think this should be fixed by having two checkboxes, "Automatically launch" and "Request items from logistic storage". Rather than changing it so the current checkbox also disables automatic launching.

Currently I can have a bot-free rocket silo dedicated to science packs - unchecked logistic requests, science packs inserted with a stack inserter, and automatically launched to meet platform requests. In order to have a dedicated rocket silo like this, there needs to be a state where it does not fill from bots, but does automatically launch.

Hello, the decision was made to remove the checkbox of auto-launch, as there were too many checkboxes and states in the UI and people were getting confused.
Generally, there is hardly a reason to have not the silo launch automatically when the rocket is fully loaded and something is requesting it.
The case that you have more platforms which are requesting the same thing you are putting in manually, and you want to specify in which one you want to send it was considered unprobably corner case, which still has a solution (deactivating requests of the other platforms)

I'm very curious how you then send some things 'manually'. Especially if you're building a new space-ship, doing it through request is awkward…

I see multiple ways:
  • As kovarex wrote at the end of his post, disable automatic requests on the other platforms while you need manual/targeted launches.
  • Do not fill up the rocket (e.g. send only 49 space platforms instead of 50)
  • Put in an item combination that's only requested by the target station

Or maybe just don't have couple of unfinished platforms on the orbit. Normaly, I wouldn't get to a situation where platforms are unfinished, and yet I need some specific stuff to be send to yet another platform with the same items required on the unfinished platforms.
