reintroducing purple inserter as something new (formerly filter inserter)

would there be a possibility for reintroducing purple inserter as something new?
possible functions/ideas:
- inventory/all inserter
- long bulk inserter with variable distances, you the set input/output distances varying from 1 to 3 tiles:

according to this idea:
could be unlocked with circuit networks
example: circular 7x7 range
or square 5x5 range
